SAAD TRANSPORT SAL
SAAD Transport SAL is a Beirut-based logistics company with a historic footprint in Lebanon’s transport and tourism sectors. Established in 1929 by Victor T. Saad, the firm began as a private bus service connecting Beirut with Tripoli. Over the decades, SAAD Transport expanded its operations and forged a diversified portfolio that aligned with evolving market dynamics.
In 1945, Victor Saad and Charles Saad formed a joint venture, creating the Charles and Victor Saad Est. and establishing two core divisions: Saad Co. for Trading and SAAD Transport. This partnership laid the groundwork for a broader transportation and logistics offering that would adapt to the region’s growth. By 1950, SAAD Transport had become an IATA member and founded Lebanon’s first air charter company, signaling the company’s early engagement with air logistics. Although the initial air charter venture operated with a limited fleet and was later sold to an air cargo operator, it underscored SAAD Transport’s willingness to explore new modes of transport.
The post-war era saw further modernization, including the introduction of the Pullman bus (a German Neoplan) in 1953, making SAAD Transport a regional pioneer in passenger mobility and tourism services across Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan. The company also played a notable role in organizing large-scale events, becoming a recognized facilitator of international conferences and gatherings in Lebanon. One standout achievement was coordinating the World Baptist Youth Organization conference in Camile Chamoun Cité Sportive in 1963, which hosted thousands of participants.
During Lebanon’s civil conflict in the 1970s, SAAD Transport demonstrated resilience by continuing operations and expanding its service offerings. In partnership with Loomis, the company introduced door-to-door courier services to support financial and corporate institutions, a capability that contributed to the Lebanese logistics landscape through the early 1990s. Throughout its history, SAAD Transport maintained IATA affiliation for both travel and cargo since 1950, reflecting a sustained commitment to international standards and networks.
Today, SAAD Transport SAL remains rooted in a legacy of entrepreneurship and service excellence, building on its long-standing presence in Lebanon’s transport and events sectors. The company emphasizes reliability, regional experience, and a willingness to adapt to changing market needs while continuing to support air-based logistics activities as part of its broader logistics capabilities. SAAD Transport’s story reflects the evolution of Lebanon’s transportation ecosystem and the enduring importance of integrated transport services in the region.
