Trans Van Links Express Corp.
Trans Van Links Express Corp. (TVL) is a Shanghai-based forwarder with a historical footprint dating back to 1983. The company began its formal forwarder activities in 1988 while operating as a subsidiary within a Shipping Agency Department. Over the years, TVL recognized the potential of Taiwan’s forwarding market and shifted its strategy to emphasize international inter-modal operations, expanding beyond a traditional booking agent role. The organization developed a flexible operation system designed to manage the complexities of global logistics, moving beyond port-to-port concepts toward integrated door-to-door service.
Key operational principles focus on end-to-end coordination: obtaining and confirming shipping instructions from clients or the sales department; checking and confirming details from loading and discharge ports; compiling and analyzing information from customers, customs brokers, shipping lines, warehouses, competitors, and foreign agents; and providing timely information to the sales team. These processes aim to improve market insight, manage liabilities and risks, and streamline communication across stakeholders.
TVL’s early expansion included the Hong Kong line, through which the company pioneered container consolidation services and issued its own bill of lading. This laid the groundwork for broader regional coverage, with activity spanning Australia, Japan, Southeast Asia, the Americas, Europe, South Africa, and the Middle East. By 1989, TVL established a Kaohsiung office, followed by a Taichung office in 1994, to better serve Taiwan’s widespread logistics requirements.
Throughout its more than two decades of operation, TVL navigated multiple economic cycles through prudent leadership and a committed workforce. The company maintained a steady growth trajectory and positioned itself as a leading entity within its field. TVL’s service portfolio today includes sea freight forwarding, customs declaration, and door-to-door solutions across its international network. In adapting to evolving global logistics trends, TVL continues to emphasize reducing unnecessary procedural steps and shortening the distance between manufacturers and consumers, with the goal of lowering direct and indirect costs for clients while fostering long-term benefits for all parties involved.
